    What You'll Do

    You will be working under the general supervision of the Collections Specialist Team Lead. As the Collections Specialist, you will perform a variety of duties related to accounts receivable management. You will investigate and reconcile patient accounts as needed. You will provide support to the Accounting Department.

    • Monitor Insurance claims by running appropriate reports and contacting insurance companies to resolve claims that are not paid in a timely manner- knowledge of questions to ask for proper processing.
    • Identify coding or billing problems from EOBs and work to correct the errors in a timely manner.
    • Identify problem accounts and escalate as appropriate.
    • Update the patient account record to identify actions taken on the account.
    • Work with patients and guarantors to secure payment on outstanding account balances.
    • Sort and file correspondence.
    • Work with other offices to obtain necessary information to get claims processed.
    • Write appeals and include supporting documentation.
    • Work with providers to correct the diagnosis or procedure codes so that the claim can be processed.
    • Respond to and process insurance refunds.
    • Other duties may be assigned.
    • Review all remittance advices for accuracy to identify errors or questionable data.
    • Uphold Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA compliance guidelines in relation to billing, collections, and PHI information

    Who You Are

    • Associates Degree required or comparable work experience.
    • EXCEL and Data Entry experience is a MUST
    • 1-3 years combination of healthcare medical claims administration experience.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong collaborative, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personalities.
    • Ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize and manage various work assignments in a fast paced, high volume environment.
    • Cash Application (Accounts Receivable Clerk) experience preferred.
    • Home health and/or hospice billing and collection experience, including processing claim rejections and denials with Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Payors preferred.
